T. B. "Happy" Fraser Award
The T. B. "Happy" Fraser Award was inaugurated in 1975 to honour Happy Fraser, Past President and General Manager of the Atlantic Salmon Association in Montreal, in recognition of his many important contributions to Atlantic salmon conservation during his lifetime.
In the mid 1960's Happy Fraser became concerned by the rapidly developing high seas salmon fishery near Greenland, and he was quick to recognize the potential danger of this fishery to Canadian rivers, and the first to sound the alarm.
The T. B. "Happy" Fraser Award is presented annually to an individual who has made outstanding long-term contributions to wild Atlantic salmon conservation at a regional or national level rather than a local or river specific contribution. It is the top honor awarded by ASF (Canada).
